Potassium is required for several crucial processes in plants, including the initiation of enzyme reactions, the synthesis of proteins, the formation of starch and sugars, and the control of water movement in cells and leaves. K levels in soil are frequently too low to promote wholesome plant development. With the exception of nitrogen, potassium (K) is taken by plants in greater quantities than any other nutrient. Although while the overall K content of soil is often far higher than the quantity used by plants, only a very tiny portion of the soil K is typically accessible to plants as food.

K nourishment for plants may be found in abundance in potassium sulphate. Similar to other popular potash fertilisers, the K component of K2SO4 is also high in K. On the other hand, it also offers a crucial supply of S, which is essential for both enzyme and protein production. S might be too lacking, just like K, to support healthy plant development. In some soils and crops, Cl- additions should also be avoided. K2SO4 is an excellent K source in these situations. Potassium sulphate is not as frequently dissolved for addition through irrigation water as KCl because it is only one-third as soluble. This is true even when more S is required.

In powdered form, GP Potassium Sulphate is a water soluble (SOP) fertiliser that is completely water soluble. It has components free of chloride and high-quality macro and vital nutrients. This can be sprayed on the crop's leaves or administered by fertigation.
